ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dawn Baird (Grove) lives in California with her husband, two daughters, two step-sons, dog and three cats. She has been actively involved in the astronomy community since 1994 where she has: founded (and won an award for) a Junior Astronomer's Club; sat on the board of directors of an astronomy club; hired by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific as the Coordinator for NASA's Night Sky Network; ground and polished her own telescope mirror in one day on a bet and coordinated many large public astronomy outreach events. She has had paid articles published in Sky & Telescope and Night Sky Magazines. She has been a professional artist since high school where she made extra money painting watercolors on commission. She uses her more traditional skills in drawing and painting together with her love of PhotoShop and a scanner to create original art. She is also the creator and owner of AstroNerds Comics.
